Educate Yourself

This site has been provided as an easy way for you, the consumer, to gather information about relevant U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls.

Food recalls can be extremely serious events and should be treated with caution when it comes to the products you purchase or may already have in your home.

What is a food recall?

Food may be pulled from the marketplace because the FDA deems it to be defective, adulterated, contaminated, misbranded, or mislabeled.

The most common reasons foods are recalled:

  • contamination from E. coli, Salmonella, or other pathogens
  • undeclared ingredients that may cause food allergens
  • plastic, glass, metal, or other foreign objects
